That's great to hear that you have been successful. If you are happy with your current average, then I would not change a thing.

The biggest reason for hooking the ball is the angle of entry into the pocket. Mathematically, you have a higher chance of striking with the angle of entry that hooking the ball provides.

It's very hard to average over 200 by throwing the ball straight.

And finally, the biggest reason for the hook is that is what people like to watch going down the lane. People always want more hook, even when that is not the best style of game for that lane condition.

The reason you may want to consider hooking a ball is increased carry. By this I mean your ball will actually hit harder as it goes through the pins when you hook it. When you throw the ball straight it just skids and skids and skids, it never really gets into a heavy roll and then the ball just deflects off the pins. If you hook the ball the ball will skid, hook, then roll into the pins creating better carry.

Why hook? I have had tremendous success just rolling the ball straight down the lane.

The major thing here is that this is a great ball for beginners that want to learn how to hook a bowling ball. The bowling balls at the lanes are usually made of plastic and are not meant to hook. Sure, if you throw them slow enough with enough revolutions, you can make them hook. You just can not do it predictably.

This will give beginners a starting point, to learn proper techniques and consistency. From that point, you will be able to find your Positive Axis Point and let your ball driller give you some great layouts.
